Blog #5: WHY AM I DOING THIS?

Thanks to Chester, you now know who I am. Dr Anne Graham at Bradford University. Hi.

Whatever I have or haven’t said here, I promise I’ve never lied. What’s odd is that – the second it got out who I was – we’ve had nearly 12x the traffic on the site. I’ve even done a few interviews. I thought this would be the end of me and my career… but Chester always seems to know what causes what effect in society. It’s his job.

Or so he told me when he rang me to tell me he’d just outed me online.

The question I’ve been asked most is what started all this. So I might as well tell you. Again, I promise I’m not lying.

One of my students was attacked.

‘Claire’ was heading back through the car park after a night out in town. As she got into her car, Claire was struck from behind, on the back of her neck and all down her back. Deep scratches.

I was on my way back to my car with my Friday night fish & chips. That car park is scary enough. I very nearly kept walking past when I heard strange noises from a corner where the light wasn’t working.

Until I distinctly heard someone gasp for ‘help’.

Looking back, I could just make out a dark silhouette, pinning a girl to the floor. I tried my best to help, kicking and punching and throwing my bag and my chips at the attacker. Nothing I could do to shift him, the strength was uncanny.

Then he went limp for a moment, as if drunk himself before suddenly bolting past me.

I didn’t know what to say when help arrived. She’d been attacked. That much was obvious. She had clearly put up a fight as she was covered in bruises but she’d lost a lot of blood.

The Police tried to identify her attacker on the DNA database from skin they took from under Claire’s fingernails. They didn’t find anything.

I took a sample of that skin for my own tests too. You’ve already seen what happened to it when I left it in sunlight.

    That’s not funny.

She had had a drink but was still close to the limit of being able to drive home.

She was certainly sober enough to know what was going on. She was just helpless to do anything about it!

    So… she’s a vampire too now, right?

  • By TOCANLIVE, Friday, 26 June 2009 @ 10:53 am

It didn’t actually bite her. Claire said it tried though. It was all she could do to keep its head away.

I know you probably weren’t being serious, Heathen, but the scratches down her neck and back were horrific. Dripping blood. The blood smeared all over her bare back. Awful.

its like the legend of Black Shuck - which is my strange experience by the way! When I was in my early teens I saw what I can only describe a massive black dog who ran at me but ended up running through me! people still think im mad but I know what happened and sod any one else! after wards I had a black scar type mark onmy leg - i cant explain it! SO anyway if this is tru (and i’m not saying it isn’t) then i’m gunna stock up on my garlic!

How old were you? Out of curiosity, did you believe in weird stuff before it happened?

I was 12 nearly 13! Apparently when I was 3-6 I used to talk to people that weren’t there but I don’t remember that! I wasn’t really a believer in the paranormal before this!

I am finding this all a little strange.

  • By carice, Monday, 10 August 2009 @ 4:24 pm

do you not think though that strange things just happen (it’s just part of life) and there is no such thing as ghosts and vampires. Were not meant to know everything that exhists and most strange things can be explained fairly simply!

  • By RICKWOOD, Monday, 10 August 2009 @ 5:23 pm

I think there’s a sociological need for us to want to experience strange things. Not just to know that the boundaries aren’t where we think but to also be the one who actually experienced them and tell them to others.

It’s something I experience myself when I’m surfing the internet! Peace x
