Blog #11: WISH LIST

Chester isn’t playing any more.

He doesn’t like how I wrote about him yesterday but wanted to put across why he thinks he was attacked. Of course he intends to use it in the new book he’s writing - but he’s deigned to give us a preview.

I’m glad he’s okay, but I think we’ll be fine without him.

Click to read about Chester’s Tuesday night.

. . . . .

But speaking of books, it hit me last night.

We knew Caitlin had deleted her facebook and myspace accounts before she ran away - but knowing she left her dormant twitter account up and running made me think that maybe there might be more traces of Caitlin online.

After a night spent typing Caitlin’s name into google, I realised she might already have left us the clue in her cryptic message.

So I tried to find her favourite story…on Amazon.

Amazon.co.uk Wish Lists

There’s a box on the right for customer wish lists. I typed Caitlin’s name in. I think we know what her favourite story is now. And where it’s set.

Now I just want to know how our story here is going to end.

  • By Heathen, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 7:44 am

    Do what? Where?

  • By GOTHGRL22, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 7:58 am

Ohhhh. Well I can’t disagree with her choice I suppose!

Type her name in top right. It’s fair to say she’s not using her actual surname anymore!

There’s a note on the right saying which one’s her favourite.

  • By Heathen, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 8:07 am

    Right, fine - found it.

But I haven’t read that book. How am I supposed to know what suburb it’s set in?

  • By BLUD_SUKKA, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 8:21 am

Jeez man - learn how 2 use the internet!!! :-P

Wait, BLUD_SUKKA… no offence, but *you’ve* read it?!?

  • By BLUD_SUKKA, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 9:12 am

HAHA! Naaah but i will watch the movie wen they make it in a propa language!! :-P

  • By Kath, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 9:47 am

Got it….two down one to go! The wonders of Wikipedia!

  • By BuffEnough, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 9:57 am

So Chester was holed up working on his opus?

But maybe we didnt give him enough credit - he was trying to find Milo to help Caitlin, even if he was trying to get a book deal out of it!

  • By wormsmichael, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 10:18 am

@Kath - likewise. Only the saw the film but a quick google cleared that one up!

    Can’t fault her choice either!!

  • By Yoyshaia, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 10:26 am

Yay! We’re making progress! We have answer 2 and the letters that make up answer 1. So basically we’re halfway there =]

  • By VamperCan, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 10:42 am

Okay. Ive read that one. How does that tie in with ‘Creo’ tho?

    Sorry if im being dumb

  • By Yoyshaia, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 11:11 am

@VamperCan, it’s the answer to one of the riddles she left us. She wanted us to find out the suburb where it was set.

  • By VamperCan, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 11:27 am

D’oh sorry. Not being clear. I got the Caitlin clue (best book Ive read in ages too), but I thought it was going to tie in with her name - whats that got to do with anything?

  • By wormsmichael, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 11:43 am

Her real surname is ‘Thomas’ which is the name of all the Hugh Jackman characters in the Fountain (whose surname is Creo) it’s a film about him trying to give his dying wife immortality (in various shapes and forms - its a bit trippy!)

Kind of appropriate considering her situation when she first started posting. A bit scary considering how things are now turning out!

  • By VamperCan, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 11:49 am

    I hear ya.

Wish Id thought of a better nickname now :-(

  • By Max Schreck, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 12:03 pm

hmmmm are we playing a game or are we being led?

  • By Court_Jester, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 12:49 pm

Caitlin certainly wants to lead us somewhere but whether its to help her or lead us to something entirely different is another matter

  • By JGH101, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 12:49 pm

Is there a difference, if someone’s offering a prize then aren’t they also making the rules?

  • By K-Holed, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 1:02 pm

It seems that we’re being led. It’s not being made incredibly hard for us, but she is limiting the information she wants to give and when she gives it. This seems to be very much on her terms.

  • By BuffEnough, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 1:14 pm

Just noticed - she mentions *her favourite story* on her twitter feed too. Crafty.

  • By Peetwee, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 1:22 pm

Well i like how i’ve been wrong at every turn!
(breaking the spell for a minute) I think that as this hasn’t had a national amount of posters that it’ll be ok to lead us a bit. The amount of story is lovely, a real sense of a 3d world is building up which i quite like :)

(Back in the game) I’m not surprised Dr Anne is ahead of us, she’s got the most vested in finding Caitlin, they communicated and her work is at stake.

I’mgetting quite anxious, we are so closeto the end we can smell it but what will we find when we get there?

  • By carice, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 1:42 pm

oopsy posted my comment on the wrong blog hehe! yey I got the answer and its a damn good book! yey i’m back in the game

  • By GOTHGRRL22, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 2:52 pm

    Clues aside, I just re-read Chester’s article.

Sounds to me like Milo has a bit of a rep for - I dont know - helping people somehow? Do you think Milo would actually have turned up if Chester had not made his escape?

  • By K-Holed, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 3:05 pm

He must have been in the area to begin with, either way.

  • By wormsmichael, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 4:19 pm

Even if he does help you out, maybe Milo’s the REASON bad things happen.

Like when you invite Poirot or Jessica Fletcher to a dinner party or something. jinxed.

  • By K-Holed, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 4:37 pm

I was looking at Caitlin’s Amazon page and I noticed that her Birthday is on the 2nd September. Is it just me, or is that more than a coincedence?

  • By Papillon, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 5:25 pm

On Caitlin’s riddle page she closes with the phrase “I’ve changed.”

Can anyone guess what I’m thinking?

  • By alex, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 5:43 pm

I’ve just watched the CCTV footage, that’s right by where I live, I walked past it today and there was still blood stains on the floor, but no sign of police presence or salt. I’m not normally spooked but there’s no way I’m walking back that way tonight.

  • By JGH101, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 6:23 pm

    @K-Holed

Let’s hope it *is* a coincidence and she’s not planning this to be a first anniversary of something :-S

  • By wormsmichael, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 6:47 pm

ALEX - that doesn’t surprise me! It seems weird enough that stuff was muddled in the footage as it was (the last shot seemed to be ‘blood-free’ too)

Keep an eye out round there - not just cos of what we saw on the tape but cos of whoever is fiddling with the footage too!

  • By natterly, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 6:54 pm

going back and reading this whole thing from the beginning, it strikes me how lovely caitlin sounded when she first joined the site. like she was waiting for it to turn up. or hoping for it!

  • By natterly, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 6:58 pm

it also makes me think that - whatever games she is playing … if whatever happened hadnt happened … she wouldnt be here at all.

whatevers become of her - cant it be seen as a good thing in some way?

  • By K-Holed, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 7:03 pm

There are greater things to fear in this world than death.

  • By Peetwee, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 7:05 pm

Agree that Milo is definately involved further than we had thought. His book may reveal something… a reason to go to the launch no? I’m going to head there i think. I wonder if Milo was looking out for Chester when he appeared at the reading, making sure he wasn’t hurt, or if his prescence was a threat…

Maybe Caitlin wants us to follow her to the launch and is helping TOCANLIVE help us.

Excuse the thought processes going on here i do tend to leap a bit.

  • By Peetwee, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 7:06 pm

    @ K-Holed - Too true

But when faced with her disease what would any of us give for eternal life?

  • By K-Holed, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 7:11 pm

That’s just it, it’s not eternal life is it? It may be an eternal existance, but I hardly think you could call it life.

  • By wormsmichael, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 7:23 pm

@Peetwee That had me puzzled. (What else is new?)It makes me think that Milo would have turned up if only Chester had waited. Chester left a flyer with the barmaid. Perhaps Milo turned up at the reading to just check who had been following him.

  • By JGH101, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 7:29 pm

    @wormsmichael
Obviously we can’t necessarily trust the CCTV footage - but, if any of it is in sequence, that would be twice that Milo appears only for the figure that presumably rescued Chester to appear later.

Like you said earlier, maybe more than bad karma follows Milo round.

  • By evey, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 7:38 pm

If you wanted to lure someone into a trap, would you tell them directly or leave bread crumbs and hope they’d gobble them up?

  • By whatisatstake, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 9:01 pm

    @natterly - I think that’s a really good point. I think K-Holden has a point too though.

I’m not sure about everyone here but I HAVE seen The Fountain and it doesn’t really pitch immortality (or at least the quest for it as a desirable thing)

I presume Caitlin has seen it too though - so maybe her mind isn’t made up on what she wants.

Maybe that’s why she’s trying to find Milo!

  • By K-Holed, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 9:09 pm

At the end of the day, all we have is a bunch of evidence. We don’t know for certain what we’re dealing with yet. There may be a perfectly logical explaination. It’s one thing to cry vampire, but quite another come forward with solid proof. Seeing is believing, and until such time as I witness it with my own eyes, I have to remain sceptical. Something weird’s going on, that’s for sure and it doesn’t seem wholey natural, but I guess only time will tell.

  • By BLUD_SUKKA, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 10:04 pm

haaaa knew this plaice wud be dull without da BLUD!! :-F

Wud tell ya where iv bin but u will all probly make some bigger conspiracy oUt of it!SHADY PEEPLE!!!

  • By natterly, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 10:18 pm

Oh good. Look who’s back :-)

@K-Holed Its true that there’s ‘nowt more devout than a convert’ but converting people is always the hardest part I guess.

speak to my nan and she’ll tell you everything about her faith. no proof but still pretty scary!

i know exactly what you’re saying but id rather keep locking my door cos of a fear there were bad people outside than actual proof they were out there.

  • By wormsmichael, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 10:46 pm

Just walked back from the pub. A guy came out of nowhere and…asked me for a light.

Scared the crap out of me!

  • By K-Holed, Thursday, 13 August 2009 @ 11:30 pm

I think everyone’s a bit on edge at the momment. the sooner we get to the bottom of this the better.

  • By Yoyshaia, Friday, 14 August 2009 @ 12:39 am

I know I am! I had to double check that my windows were locked before I went to bed last night, and I’ve started turning all the lights on if I need to go downstairs to fetch something at night ^^; what can I say.. it’s my overactive imagination at work.

  • By Peetwee, Friday, 14 August 2009 @ 1:10 am

@ Yoyshaia i know what you mean!
This whole thing has made my mind operate on overdrive, the conclusions i am jumping to are getting wilder and wilder.

Hopefully tomorrow will bring the light we desperately need.

@K-Holed I agree but sometimes death is so scary any type of existance is better than nothingness, i thin we are dealing with a very desperate woman. I would consider it at the least.

I think we need to see what Milo does next…

  • By GOTHGRRL22, Friday, 14 August 2009 @ 4:31 am

It does feel a little bit like we’re tumbling down the rabbit hole. We might be able to crawl back out - but we won’t be able to un-remember what we saw when we were down there.

  • By K-Holed, Friday, 14 August 2009 @ 8:59 am

No use this morning? That’s odd …

  • By BuffEnough, Friday, 14 August 2009 @ 9:06 am

    @K-Holed

No use? Not sure what you mean?

  • By K-Holed, Friday, 14 August 2009 @ 9:37 am

    @BuffEnough

    I meant news :)

Looks like it’s up now though.
